Listening part 【学生态度】： The man agrees with the plan. 1. It saves a lot of time for students to go to the cafeteria; 2. And it offers students a place to finish group projects, because discussion is not allowed in the library. 【Question】: Explain the man‘s opinion and why he holds that opinion. Question 4 Reading part 【名词解释】： Predator saturation: plants produce a mass of seeds to prevent their seeds from being eaten by animals. Listening part 【教授举例】： Bamboo produces tons of seeds every 120 years in different seasons to prevent their seeds from being eaten by big mammals. Besides this, bamboo usually grows very slow, so some years it might not grow. By saturating their seeds, bamboo can expand to many places, and therefore grow there in the future. 【Question】：用听力的例子来解释对这个概念的了解。 Question 5 【学生艰难】： The man‘s problem is that his band has a concert to put on next week, but one of the members Bob could not come because of his job interview. 【处置计划】： 1. The first solution is to put it off for two weeks, but they might lose lots of audiences because exams are coming. 2. The second solution is to perform without Bob. But that might degrade the quality of the performance since Bob is the lead singer of the band. 【Question】: State what the problem the woman has and how to solve the problem. Question 6 【讲课要点】： Senses usually interact to provide the comprehensive understanding of an object. Experiments test results of sight and touching senses work individually. For example, two bottles are with the same volume, one is tall and thin, and the other is short and wide. Sight sense: the first group of people only watches the bottle, and most of them think the tall and thin bottle contains larger volume. Touching sense: the second group of people is asked to cover their eyes, and touch the two bottles. And most of them think the short and wide bottle contains larger volume. 第二套 Question 1 Some trains now have quiet cars where passengers are not allowed to speak loudly and use cell phones, laptops or other mobile devices that produce sound. Do you think this is a good idea? Explain why or why not. Question 2 When students have questions about an assignment for class, some prefer to ask the professor for help, others prefer to ask other students in the class for understanding the assignment. Question 3 Reading part 【学校通知】： The school plans to cancel the tutorial lessons for engineering freshman for two reasons. 1. a lack of volunteer tutors; 2. no clear evidence shows that the tutorials can help improve the learning of students; Listening part 【学生态度】： The woman holds a negative idea. 1. PhD candidates in engineering department can play the role. This will not take them a lot of time, and they are knowledgeable; 2. The tutorials benefit the students a lot. Students can have a better understanding of the textbooks and reading assignments. 【Question】: Explain the woman‘s opinion and why she holds that opinion. Question 4 Reading part 【名词解释】： Pratfall effect: when a person is already considered as competent, people will admire him or her more if he or she makes minor mistakes. Listening part 【教授举例】： A group of people watch two video clips, in which the same person answers the same questions except for one difference. In the first video, the man answered all the questions correctly. In the second video, the man also answered all the questions correctly, but spilt a cup of coffee on his shirt. And people tend to prefer the man in the second video. 【Question】：用听力的例子来解释对这个概念的了解。 Question 5 【学生艰难】： The woman could not finish her paper because her professor is not here, but she needs some help from the professor. 【处置计划】： The man suggests two possible solutions. The first one is that she can write about some simple facts, but other students have been working hard. The second one is that she can work with another professor, but other students have done it for a long time, she might be short of time to go through it. 【Question】: State what the problem the woman has and how to solve the problem. Question 6 【讲课要点】： The professor talks about two ways for the birds in the desert to cool down. The first way is to use the power of wind. When desert birds get hot, they can make their feathers straight up away from their bodies, exposing some of the skin under the feathers. This allows the breeze to hit their skin and it cools their bodies down. The second way is to direct more blood to the featherless parts.
